"JUST a GDE?" he chuckled. "Many take pride in that title."

I laughed, "It’s all about perspective. A GDE doesn’t know everything."

He shared that he once applied for the GDE title but wasn't accepted. I empathized, recalling my own initial rejection.

This wasn’t my first encounter with a question about my introduction. Each time I submitted a talk proposal to a tech conference, I faced a bio field to complete. My usual response highlighted my freelance work, accomplishments on Medium, YouTube, and Udemy, where I had over 35,000 students enrolled in two courses.

But why did I hesitate this time, and why did "JUST" slip from my lips?

First, I’m often caught off guard by spontaneous questions. Second, verbally repeating my written accomplishments felt boastful. Lastly, I resist being confined to one identity.

My tech journey began 18 years ago as a Java developer, leading me through various frameworks. Lately, my focus on Angular sometimes mislabels me as merely a frontend developer. I find this frustrating, leading me to assert, "NO, I'm not just a JavaScript or Angular developer."

While I’ve mastered many technologies, my latest course on Software Architecture and System Design reflects my commitment to broadening my technical identity.

Finally, I believe there’s a misconception about what it means to be a GDE. Achieving this title requires expertise and a significant contribution to the community through various forms of engagement. Many proficient experts opt not to apply because they haven’t yet shared their knowledge in impactful ways.

His YouTube channel is a blend of captivating storytelling, humor, and engaging visuals, which reflects his deep understanding of technology.

What truly impressed me was not just his technical abilities but his leadership qualities. He has built companies, assembled teams, and collaborated with other firms to provide engineering talent.
