Embracing My Passion for Writing: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Chapter 1: The Urge to Write
Many of us experience a strong desire to express ourselves through writing. Thoughts swirl in our minds, eager to be articulated. For a long time, I kept my emotions confined within the hectic pace of my daily life, reluctant to let them surface.
Busy schedules consumed me. My profession demanded my attention. As a senior colleague once remarked, "We should keep our heads held high," as we navigate through one of the most esteemed departments. I hold deep respect for my field; I consider myself fortunate to be part of such a distinguished institution.
Yet, there was always a void—something elusive and profound, beyond the coveted promotion I yearned for.

Time passed quickly, and the silver strands of my hair became more apparent. One outspoken student commented, “Ma’am, perhaps you should color your hair.” I replied with a smile, “One cannot conceal age. If grey hair is meant to appear, so be it.”
In my quest for purpose, I resisted the urge to write but found myself drawn to “Law of Attraction” classes, attending once a week while multitasking with my camera off. One day, an advertisement caught my eye—Author Freedom Hub. The founder, Sir Som Bathla, inspires individuals to publish their works on Amazon, with many authors successfully releasing two books monthly and achieving bestseller status.
Most participants focused on non-fiction, attracting audiences from countries like the UK, US, Canada, Germany, and Australia. The prospect was undeniably appealing.
However, my passion lies in fiction, and I didn’t consider myself a prominent author like Ruskin Bond or Chetan Bhagat. Nevertheless, I eventually penned a book, now somewhat obscured within Amazon’s vast collection. I know I have the potential to craft better stories in the future.
Seeing fellow writers share their Medium stories in our telegram group sparked my curiosity. One day, I ventured into a tale that I couldn’t fully access as a non-member. Another time, my facilitator shared a free link, leading me to a lovely narrative. This experience ignited my interest.
The more I read, the more I was captivated. Many authors shared their success stories on Medium, offering guidance on engaging readers. I saved numerous articles to revisit later. Yet, it was the heartfelt accounts of love, loss, healing, and personal growth that truly resonated with me. These narratives moved me deeply.
And then, inspiration struck like a torrent. My words flowed freely, as if a dam had broken, cascading forth like a waterfall—uncontrollable and undeniable.

This is how I developed an immense passion for Medium. Although I don’t aspire to achieve monumental success or attract thousands of readers, I find joy in writing a little each day, hoping that my words resonate with some.
Don’t follow my path of hesitation. Embrace your passion and let it flourish.
