By June 20, Lisa was officially reported missing. Sherry initially claimed that Lisa had likely just left, a statement that her friends found hard to accept. Since then, there has been no trace of Lisa.

Where is Lisa Lynn Stone?

Born on September 3, 1958, in the Dallas area, Lisa had a close family, including two brothers and a sister. During her high school years, she was well-liked, active in the drill team, and enjoyed a vibrant social life.

Lisa graduated from Mesquite High School, an eastern suburb of Dallas. She faced significant loss when her sister died in a car accident and her brother succumbed to AIDS.

In the 1990s, after coming out as gay, Lisa met Sherry at a nightclub, and their connection was immediate. They soon moved in together.

However, tragedy struck again when Lisa lost her mother to cancer. She remained close with her father, a retired police officer, until his death in 2005. Around this time, Lisa also lost her job in newspaper ad sales.

Sherry claimed that this was a pivotal moment for Lisa. Lisa had inherited nearly $300,000 from her family, but by 2010, most of it had vanished, leading to speculation about its disappearance—Sherry suggested Lisa spent it all, while Sherry faced accusations of mismanagement.

Lisa maintained strong ties with her friends from the drill team and high school, frequently communicating via text and social media. They were aware of her challenges, given her traumatic past.

As 2010 unfolded, Lisa confided in a friend about her troubled relationship with Sherry, who encouraged her to leave. However, Lisa chose to stay in the home she inherited from her family in Dallas.

THE DISAPPEARANCE.

On June 4, 2010, a neighbor spoke with Lisa, who offered to help take out the trash the next day. However, the following day, the neighbor received an alarming call from Sherry, stating that Lisa had to undergo emergency gallbladder surgery and would be unavailable.

Days passed without a word from Lisa, prompting friends to check in with one another, only to find that no one had heard from her. A friend reached out to Sherry, who claimed Lisa had simply left town for a while—an explanation that raised suspicions.

Eventually, Sherry's statements began to vary when pressed by Lisa's friends. One evening, friends visited Sherry, who insisted Lisa would return that night and even offered to order pizza for them. However, when they waited for an hour and a half, Lisa did not show up.

Sherry later dismissed this encounter, claiming it never happened. On June 20, the neighbor reported Lisa missing. Initial investigations concluded that Lisa likely left voluntarily, and the case was briefly closed.

On June 29, a welfare check was requested. Sherry then claimed Lisa was attending a funeral.

Determined to find their friend, Lisa's friends took matters into their own hands. On July 2, one friend spotted Sherry driving Lisa's car and decided to follow her. She observed Sherry disposing of items, including a suitcase that contained Lisa's birth certificate, personal documents, and family photos.

Convinced something was amiss, the friends presented their findings to law enforcement, prompting further scrutiny into Sherry's actions.

As friends voiced their concerns, Sherry became defensive, claiming she was the target of unfounded accusations. Nevertheless, the authorities agreed to reopen the case based on the friends' discoveries.

THE SEARCH.

The investigation into Lisa's disappearance took several turns. Law enforcement questioned Sherry, who maintained that Lisa left on her own. She offered various explanations for Lisa's absence, including her struggles with mental health and drug use, which her friends found hard to believe.

The search at the home yielded no evidence, but authorities discovered that Sherry had 26 cats and two dogs living in unsanitary conditions. Shortly after, Sherry was seen in a distressed state near a creek behind their house, claiming she felt threatened.

In July, police received a lead that led them to search an area in Hunt County, Texas, but no significant evidence was found.

Lisa's home at 3323 Truxillo Drive is located in a populated neighborhood, but it is surrounded by a tall privacy fence, obscuring visibility from the outside. The area is near two lakes and features ample parkland and wooded spaces.

Despite Sherry's claims of being innocent, she has become a person of interest in the investigation. Law enforcement acknowledges the peculiar circumstances surrounding Lisa's case, but friends feel they are not being taken seriously. Sherry has filed complaints against them, alleging harassment.

Notably, Sherry has a criminal history involving fraud and forgery, which raises further questions about her character. Lisa's friends refuse to accept the narrative that she left voluntarily.
