Boost is an innovative insurance infrastructure-as-a-service platform that empowers companies in various industries to offer digital insurance products through a seamless embedded experience. I began my career in venture capital at IA Capital in New York City. During my time there, I had the chance to collaborate with numerous insurance companies, which ignited my interest in the industry. As a natural problem solver, I was frustrated by the bureaucratic hurdles that prevented innovative ideas from taking flight in insurance. Witnessing many promising ventures struggle to go to market motivated me to create Boost, aiming to address these systemic challenges.

What major disruptions do you foresee for employers over the next decade? How can they adapt?
The concept of "executing from anywhere," driven by the shift towards remote work, is poised to reshape business operations. Employers must find ways to accommodate this shift while providing tools that replicate the benefits of in-person collaboration. Additionally, attracting top talent will become increasingly competitive, compelling employers to enhance their benefits packages. Job seekers today are prioritizing work-life balance and support options beyond mere salary, with benefits like paid parental leave likely to become more prevalent.

The decision to pursue a college degree was once straightforward. However, with many high-profile individuals achieving success without degrees and graduates facing significant student debt, the situation has become more nuanced. What advice would you offer young adults contemplating college?
I believe that higher education in the U.S. has systemic issues, particularly the burden of student loans. While a degree has traditionally been viewed as essential for job consideration, it should represent more than just a checkbox. College can cultivate critical thinking and expose students to diverse perspectives, which is vital in today's tech-driven world. For those contemplating college, it's crucial to evaluate personal goals and explore alternative paths.

How should job seekers modify their approaches to finding employment that aligns with their skills and interests?
With fewer geographic barriers, workers now have a broader array of job opportunities. This shift allows them to be more discerning in their choices. It's essential for candidates to identify the intangible aspects they seek in a workplace, such as community and culture, which significantly impact job satisfaction.

As automation and AI become more prevalent, how can individuals safeguard their careers against potential job loss due to these technologies?
While AI will undoubtedly transform many sectors, there will always be a need for human insight to interpret and apply AI-generated information. Skills such as empathy, communication, and creativity remain invaluable as technology evolves.
Technological advancements have accelerated the trend of remote work. Do you believe this trend will persist? Why or why not?
I firmly believe that remote work will remain prevalent in the near future. The pandemic has normalized this arrangement, allowing companies to tap into talent from diverse locations. However, the hybrid work model appears to be the most attractive for many, as it combines the benefits of in-person interaction with the flexibility of remote work.
What societal adjustments do you think are necessary to support these changes in work dynamics?
The blurred lines between work and personal life in remote settings can lead to unhealthy work environments. Both employees and managers need to establish and maintain a healthy work-life balance as we navigate these changes.
What challenges do you anticipate employers and employees will face in adapting to these new norms?
Employers accustomed to overseeing employees in person may struggle to adapt to remote working dynamics. They will need to redefine productivity metrics and trust that they have hired capable individuals who can thrive without direct oversight.
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the inadequacies of the social safety net for workers. What steps do you think should be taken to address these issues?
It's imperative that we address the shortcomings of the social safety net, which became more evident during the pandemic. Companies should play a proactive role in supporting their employees, particularly concerning caregiving responsibilities and family leave policies. Boost, for instance, has created an insurance product to assist small and medium enterprises in offering paid parental leave.

What gives you the most hope for the future of work?
I am optimistic that workers are beginning to recognize their worth and are willing to take risks to seek greater job satisfaction. This shift not only leads to happier employees but also diversifies talent across various industries.
As we adjust to the ongoing changes in the workplace, what strategies can we adopt to bridge the gap caused by job losses?
To shorten this gap, society needs to embrace better retraining programs and consider nontraditional candidates for roles. Many capable individuals may be overlooked due to not meeting arbitrary criteria, and the competitive job market is encouraging a shift in these hiring practices.

One quote that stands out to me is from Steve Jobs: "If you really look closely, most overnight successes took a long time." This reflects the reality that building something successful requires dedication and hard work. At Boost, we invested years into developing our infrastructure, which now enables us to bring products to market swiftly.
