Chapter 1: Introducing Microsoft Storyline
Microsoft has launched a new feature called "Storyline," designed to celebrate workplace accomplishments and experiences. This feature, integrated into Microsoft Viva and Microsoft 365, allows users to share updates through short video clips and announcement posts.
Similar to popular social media platforms like Instagram, Microsoft Storyline enables users to create a narrative by sharing posts, participating in communities, and uploading videos or photos to their story feeds. This feature is seamlessly incorporated into Microsoft Viva Engage.
Chapter 1.1: A Closer Look at Storyline
The design of Microsoft Storyline closely resembles Facebook Stories, providing users with profile pages where they can express their thoughts, track activities, and bookmark clips. Additionally, users have the option to join various communities, enhancing collaborative engagement.
With Storyline, users can interact with others' posts using emojis and reactions, as well as comment to foster community growth. The platform emphasizes sharing achievements and feedback by allowing users to earn badges when creating a post. This has drawn parallels to LinkedIn, but specifically tailored for team environments.
Chapter 1.2: The Evolution of Work Communication
While Storyline may evoke memories of Slack's earlier attempts at video stories, it presents a fresh, engaging approach to workplace communication. Although some might find it cumbersome, it aims to create a more intimate atmosphere for sharing updates and connecting with colleagues.
