Chapter 1: The Decision to Leave

In early 2022, I made the choice to resign from my 9–5 job. The environment was toxic, and I soon realized I wasn't suited for the role I was hired to fulfill. I had an inkling of this before I even began my employment, but the lure of a steady paycheck overshadowed my instincts. However, that’s a tale for another time.

Upon resigning, I had been nurturing a small newsletter focused on cryptocurrency. It was gaining traction, and I genuinely enjoyed sharing the insights I had acquired. My goal was to expand this venture, generating revenue through subscriptions and potential sponsorships. Unfortunately, the cryptocurrency market took a nosedive, and interest in my newsletter evaporated. Despair set in.

I then decided to shift my focus to leadership coaching. With twelve years of experience in various leadership roles, I felt confident in my abilities. I followed the advice of many online coaches who claimed that creating content would naturally attract leads.

My days were tranquil. Mornings were dedicated to writing and refining my coaching framework, while afternoons involved reading and hitting the gym. Ah, the ideal life we all dream of as aspiring entrepreneurs.

Fast forward to a year later, and I find myself without a thriving business.

There's a crucial lesson that the online coaching world often overlooks.

When embarking on the journey of building a business, it demands significantly more effort than one might expect.

Despite what many coaches might say, it's nearly impossible to establish a successful business with just four-hour workdays, especially in the initial stages. You must invest your heart and soul into your creation until it reaches a point of viability. Only then can you ease up on the intensity. But not before.

Why is this the case?

A fundamental principle permeates the universe: the law of conservation of energy. This law asserts that energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only transform from one form to another.

To manifest something new into existence, you must dedicate your energy to it. You need to transmute your efforts into the energy that fuels your project. Many fail to grasp the sheer amount of energy required to launch something new. I certainly didn’t.

At the outset, I believed that a few hours of content creation would suffice. However, I soon recognized the necessity of crafting a compelling offer. Then, I understood the importance of engaging in outbound prospecting until my message gained traction.

It demanded even more energy from me.

Eventually, I heeded this lesson after months of neglecting it. I have now redirected my efforts towards building my business, and this time, I am determined to succeed.
