Recently, two of my former students decided to leave Medium without any prior communication. This prompted me to reach out and inquire about their reasons for leaving.
The primary reason they cited was a feeling of inadequacy: "I’m not cut out for this." When I probed further, they expressed that they felt they had failed. They believed that their attempts at writing—a process that took considerable effort—did not yield the desired results.
I emphasized to them that experiencing failure is not a valid reason to abandon their writing journey. Such setbacks do not signify a lack of capability. In fact, thinking this way is fundamentally misguided! Failures should serve as opportunities for growth and improvement, allowing you to learn, adapt, and return with renewed vigor.
Writing is a long-term endeavor. You should aim for sustainable success rather than short-lived victories. While quick wins can be gratifying, perseverance is key to achieving your ultimate goals. Here’s a better approach than throwing in the towel.
