Chapter 1: Understanding Vowels and Consonants
Vowels in the English alphabet include a, e, i, o, u, while the other letters are classified as consonants. This mathematical puzzle also tests your language skills! Are you ready to tackle the probability challenge? Grab your pen and paper, pause for a moment, and see if you can figure it out. When you're prepared, continue reading for the solution!

Section 1.1: The Probability Puzzle
To solve this, it's essential to recognize that you can either draw at least one vowel or that all three cards drawn contain no vowels. In probability notation, this can be expressed as:
Calculating the probability of drawing consonants proves to be more straightforward. With 26 letters in total, 5 of which are vowels, the first draw offers 21 consonants. The options decrease to 20 and then to 19 for the subsequent draws.
Notice how the total number of letters available decreases from 26 to 25 and then to 24. Ultimately, we can determine the likelihood that at least one card reveals a vowel.
And there you have it—our solution!
Bonus Question: Can you calculate the probability using combinations (nCr)?
